| - I started going to The Rock at the start of 2015 after searching for churches in Vegas for about a year and a half. This was the first church in Vegas where I felt wanted, like people were excited to see me, that they wanted to get to know me from my very first visit. I hadn't felt that in a long time at a church.
The church is about 150 people on average. It's easy to get to know people and everyone's friendly. The church is growing but it's still easy to get to know everyone. There are several small groups that meet throughout the week that encourage to get to know others deeper and there's a variety - a Women's, men's, couples, kid-friendly, etc. There are lots of opportunities to get involved whether it be children's ministry, tech team, guest services, worship team, etc.
I love that the church is community oriented. In the past we've partnered with another church in serving the homeless on E-street, downtown. We also partnered with a Title 1 elementary school and raised money and donations for each kid to have a new pair of shoes. We have community barbecues with free food for the neighborhood, etc.
I'll be honest and say that I don't fit the typical realm of what people think of as a Christian and church can be hard for me at times. My husband's not a Christian, my views are more liberal than most, I don't like labels, I fear being vulnerable. No church is perfect because we're people, we're human, but the people at The Rock are always accepting, loving, driven by the word of God, and encourage accountability. I am grateful that the leaders are willing to talk open and honestly -- they're willing to challenge. These are things I look for to dig deeper and be a better person.
