  • I have been to the church site and the Finch site of this hospital for myself and other family members. In a nutshell, I have one word that sums up each and every experience.....APPALLING. The hospital is filthy and there is a clear disdain from nursing staff for the patients. I have encountered some incredible doctors, but unfortunately, the bulk of patient care is left up to the nursing staff. My father was very ill in January 2013, not realizing the severity of his illness and due to proximity to home, the ambulance took him to the church site. He spent a total of 5 days in the hospital, (he only got a room after we asked them to transfer him elsewhere) , 4 days in emergency without a pillow, or blanket, or food. They bounced him back and forth between ICU in emergency and a stretcher, according to other patient needs. I had to set up round the clock family care for my dad for fear that if one of his machine alarms went off, it would be ignored. Sure enough that is what happened....2x. I also had to bring my father pillows from home , food and blankets. Even more disgusting was the nurse in emergency texting on her phone while she was supposed to be monitoring the machines for 3 patients, or the nurse in emergency ICU that was surfing the net instead of watching patients during the night, my sister had it out with the nurse on that one. So sad, because there was 1 older filippino nurse who worked very hard to help the patients...a rare diamond in a pile of coal. All in all, we were thankful and relieved when my dad was released from that hell hole. If we hadn't been there around the clock I'm convinced he would have died. THERE IS NO EXCUSE for these experiences. I have been to Women's College hospital for my daughter a month before demolition, it was SO CLEAN you could eat off the floors. Suffice it to say, that people in close proximity to the hospital who are in the know, REFUSE to go there. They will take a cab instead of an ambulance to another hospital in the city, just to avoid going there. Everyone keeps saying that the new hospital will be a unique and wonderful health facility... I say, HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF. Unless same drastic changes , checks, balances and measures are put into place and maintained, the new hospital will be ONE MONSTROUS DISASTER.....For myself, friends and family...I'll go elsewhere thank you.
