I recently went back to Thunderbird Lounge (The Aruba refers to the interconnected hotel and spa) after hearing about how they renovated the stage area, and also because a band I wanted to see was playing there. I wasn't expecting much though, as my previous experiences (in July 2005 and December 2009) weren't all that great.
They definitely upgraded the stage area. The lighting is nice, it's spacious, and there's a little bar close by. The drinks were inexpensive and the crowd was pretty cool, I even met up with an old friend of mine.
There was an incident towards the end though, which I was really uncomfortable with. Two girls got in a fight, and while they were pulling each other out of the venue by the hair, the smell of mace started filling up the room. I got out and told my friends to do the same, but I guess it still got in their eyes. So they left soon after. I know it's not the venue's fault, but I think security could have done more to prevent the whole incident from happening in the first place.
