  • Do yourself a favor and DO NOT hire Mojave construction. In October, 2017, we retained them to do a full home remodel, including moving two walls. We were promised a three month turn around. It took six months which would have been acceptable assuming the job ran smoothly. It did not!! It turned into a nightmare that came close to taking the starch out of both my husband and myself ! There is zero management at Majove!! This is how the onsite scenario plays out day after day. The site manager listens to and agrees to do everything. He smiles and says yes. It never gets done. I have nearly 100 pictures and documented scenarios like this (hard to believe, I know ). In the beginning we would ask again and remind. Nothing gets done or it gets done incorrectly. Finally it escalates up to Chuck, the owner boss. He comes onsite and yells and screams at all his employees and day labor. It still doesn't get done. Then he yells and screams at us - his clients - telling us none of the issues are his fault - he can't get any good employees, etc . We learned to stand our ground. He loses his temper. The next day a gorgeous orchid plant with apology for his behavior shows up at our doorstep. But the behavior repeats way too often! We started making lists and demanding weekly meeting. The owner proudly tells us he doesn't read email or text. It's mostly true, except when he wants money! He doesn't bring the lists or notes to meetings. The onsite manager never brings any of the documentation. The house sits for several days at a time with nothing happening. The company lives hand to mouth we suspect ! It became obvious that the three to five days downtime is after an installment payment -we believe the contractor needed the cash flow to buy supplies for next phase. We started printing out copies for every single person on the job site each week for these meetings. Blue taping was a nightmare - someone goes around and takes the take off. I finally started carrying a roll of tape around my wrist and sitting at the job site The ethics of this company are from hell! The contract was clearly written that a $30K payment was due when kitchen was completely finished. Mojave folks badly scratched the shrouds of the fan over the cooktop. The shrouds had to be reordered. Fergusons was wonderful in making this happen as quickly as possible We shook hands with the Majove owner that we would do a partial $15K payment and pay the balance the minute the shroud was replaced. The replacement shroud was still on order when he began begging for the final $15 K payment. He wouldn't reorder the shroud from the manufacturer. He did offer to take requisite specifications to a metal shop and have them built which was unacceptable to us. Mohave does not even deserve to have a contractors license - Nevada General Contractor License Number 0025771A The quality of the Majove workmanship is subpar. We have already spent over $6K fixing their work and unfulfilled promises. Our saving grace were the many subcontractors we ourselves engaged, all of whom were excellent including Custom Closet Systems, Granite Expo, California Closets, Faucets Galore, and Ferguson's Appliance. ... and we really would have been down for the count in this ordeal if it hadn't been for Bogey's Italian Restaurant - our home away from home!
