| - Desperation = Going to Midnight Diner when sober
Ever noticed a mile long line extending from a chrome covered building with neon lights, at 2AM? That's Midnight Diner. It's a combination of drunken millennials pouring out from Southend for a final meal before stumbling home and people leaving the always lovely Uptown Cabaret, looking to make a second poor decision. I've had my fair share of late nights here, which I'm not too proud of, so this is coming from direct experience.
It's all of the typical diner fare you would expect to see, only none of it is done very well. My drunken 2AM alter ego, that would normally demolish an unholy combo from Taco Bell, has been able to see right through the facade that is Midnight Diner. Laughable fried chicken that's either been over or under cooked, over cooked hash browns, those lovely neon yellow hotel continental breakfast-style eggs, and dry waffles. A burger is probably your best bet here.
On top of all that, you will normally have to wait a good bit to get in the door and trust me when I say, it's not worth it. One thing that has always been consistent is the service. They are trying to get you in and out as quickly as possible, which I can appreciate. You're better off heading South about a mile to Skyland Family Restaurant, where you can at least take advantage of the people watching and finally getting that unforgettable Snapchat story.
Prime location with an always boisterous crowd, long wait, and half-assed food...2/5.
