  • There is something about the espresso at Commonplace that just tastes...bad. I believe that the coffee beans they use are over roasted, but one cannot be sure. However, their lavender & vanilla simple syrup is very tasty and would pair well with a good espresso-based drink. Additionally, their hot chocolate is excellent! It is rich, creamy, and perfectly sweetened. Sadly, the hot chocolate and simple syrup cannot rectify the fact that the espresso is less than mediocre, so Commonplace will have to be satisfied with a solid 3 stars.
