| - If you follow my reviews then you probably know that I love Dim Sum. I search out these places whenever I have time. Thanks to Jean C, my Vegas Yelp connection, for telling me about Chang's. I loved the atmosphere. The restaurant was buzzing with Cantonese, and it felt like I was in a tea house in Hong Kong. The hostess asked me if I needed a fork! I guess being an ABC is really that obvious. But no thank you, I can handle the sticks just fine.
This restaurant is not in Chinatown. It is a standalone building about 3 miles south of Chinatown, and a short Uber ride from Mandalay Bay. The building is nice, and I preferred it over the typical strip center or having to navigating through the Gold Coast to get to Ping Pang Pong (although I really like it there). The dining room is perfect size. It is big enough that you don' t feel overcrowded, but also not one of those oversized rooms that hosts gigantic wedding banquets. The hostess told me that the restaurant has been open for many years but it changed owners this year.
Dim Sum as a single person is not ideal because you might not try as many dishes as you would with a group. But that doesn't stop me. I ordered tripe, pai qwat, gai lan, shark's fin dumpling, and shrimp balls on mushrooms. I was a little disappointed that I didn't see more unique dim sums, but their execution of these traditional items was well above average. I recommend Chang's for Dim Sum and I would definitely come back.
