  • I first started seeing Dr. Gupta in April, 2016. I have seen dozens of psychiatrists and therapists over the previous 27 years, and Dr. Gupta is the first doctor to finally listen to and believe me as I described the events and patterns of symptoms that have made up my life. He has never trivialized any of my statements or caused me to feel that I am over reacting. Dr. Gupta was, literally, my last hope for an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment. I have been hospitalized numerous times, on so many different medications that I can no longer keep track, and have undergone ECT, all to no avail. I have been homeless, suicidal, and spent thousands of dollars during manic episodes that went unchecked. In a 20 year time frame, I had at least 15 different jobs. I have lost important relationships that may never be mended. I have abruptly discontinued medication after dealing with multiple negative and permanent side effects that resulted in a worsening of my symptoms. Dr. Gupta listened to my opinions and understood my hesitancy to try yet another "new" drug. He has not pressured me into accepting one treatment over another, and does not push for multiple medication therapy if it hasn't helped in the past. Together, we came up with a treatment plan that so far have been very effective. My whole outlook has changed for the better, and my interactions with other people has become more positive. I have been treated by other psychiatrists who NEVER requested lab work regardless of my medication or whether I was a new or returning patient, and that is just wrong. Dr. Gupta requested all appropriate lab work the first month. I haven't experienced the issues with his office staff that other reviewers have commented about. When I called for my initial appointment, it was made easily, and within the normal time frame for a new patient. When I checked in for my first appointment, the staff members were polite. I called about a month after starting my medication and before my next scheduled appointment because I was having an unexpected reaction. I was offered an appointment rather than a phone call to discuss the reaction, and for that I was disappointed. Similar to other doctor offices, the office asks that new patients arrive early to complete paperwork. The paperwork is extensive because it is extremely thorough, and 30 minutes isn't adequate for completion if your history covers many years and/or numerous treatments. In anticipation of this, and because my history is quite extensive, I actually typed my history in a narrative form before arriving. This was helpful, and I was able to include a lot of details that wouldn't have been on the form otherwise. The office accepts my insurance, but as a previous medical office manager, I always encourage patients to verify their benefits and co-pays themselves so they know what to expect when they arrive at the office. Generally speaking, psychiatric care and mental health care, in general, in Las Vegas is inadequate. Many doctors push patients through their visits in 10-15 minutes, and fail to properly recognize, diagnose, and treat many illnesses. This has not been my experience with Dr. Gupta. As an informed patient, I firmly believe that a portion of the care is the responsibility of the patient, and that patients must be proactive with their own medical care. It has taken me a long time to find a doctor I believe will actually help me. I do recommend Dr. Gupta. He has helped me.
