Another food truck nearby. Targeting. Fire tastebuds!
Only a couple blocks from work was Los Compadres, the first Mexican food truck ( and maybe only) I've seen in Calgary.
I ordered the chirizo tacos. They were ready rather quickly. Unfortunately, I was able to pour out about a cup of grease from the container. Not too appetizing. Next, I was fairly unimpressed with the what was in them. Chirizo in tortilla shells. That's it. No lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, salsa or sour cream. Boring and for $10, you'd think there would be something more in them. Now, I have always loved chirizos. The great taste and the spicy kick on the tongue make them a great dish. These particular chirizos were more like a spicy sledgehammer to the face. More spice than taste. I went through 2 bottles of water just to eat them. Definitely not an enjoyable meal.
I'm not sure if I'd go back. It's actually more of an embarrassment to Mexican food than a highlight. Perhaps even more embarassing than waking up after a night of drinking spooning a poodle.
