| - I went with my friend Mary and we giggly exclaimed, upon tasting the Sambusa, "this is God's food, dude."
This was my second Ethiopian food experience -- my first was at Queen Sheba's in Sacramento, which is a FLAWLESS Ethiopian restaurant (if you're ever up there, GO). I loved Merkato, the only things I didn't love were the craaaazy slow service and the spinach. The spinach had an odd, acrid, canned taste. Everything else on our veggie combo platter was delicious. We also got the lamb tibs (non-spicy) which was very gamey but good.
It was also a little awkward since we were the only non-Ethiopian people there and we kept attracting stares, so we moved tables to the back and enjoyed the awesome food there.
Oh, and the bill was super cheap. We ordered 2 Sambusas (seriously, you should share one, they're massive), a big veggie combo platter, bottled waters, and lamb tibs, and the bill was $21.
