  • I was able to get assistance by brown and associates regarding a civil traffic violation and I was made aware of the courts possibly denying a court extension since it was past the deadline. I received a letter from the courts explaining just that. I spoke with Lisa Paris asking about the letter and if I should attend the court hearing prepared to defend myself. I was assured that wouldn't be necessary and that asking for a continuance is all I needed to do. I asked again in the likelihood I am not granted a continuance I can go prepared for the case and again was assured not necessary. At my hearing I asked the judge for the continuance and was denied and I was forced to represent myself unprepared. I contacted Lisa after the hearing upset but moving forward about an appeal and that if I should go ahead and do it since I was there and I live an hour from the court. She assured me to not do anything and that it would be taken care of by the attorney, I also made it clear to Lisa I only have 14 days to appeal. It was about 6 days later that I had to finally contact Lisa about the status of the appeal only to be told the appeal process was to be done on my own. This experience was far from professional and their failure to fulfill basic fiduciary obligations to the client cost me the case and a second trip to the courts to file an appeal. I learned from this experience and would like brown & associates to learn from it as well.
