| - Sometime I wonder what happened to Bennigans...and now I know: it's come back as King's Fish House. And in case you aren't getting the profuse, dripping sarcasm, that's no compliment.
More expensive, far more pretentious, so average yet aims so high. My food was very, very average. Best thing was the grilled asparagus but balsamic and Parmesan is something I can do myself. Fish was blah. Really. While I certainly didn't ask anyone to taste my fish, I'm telling you, no one you or I know would have sampled my fish and exclaimed, "God, this is good!" because it wasn't. It was BLAND. No smoke flavor, no benefit from plank-cooking. Really, the problem was:
NO FLAVOR.
And they're not giving anything away. Let me put it to you this way: as I was walking out I passed a 12-top, 12 folks chomping away at a variety of seafood, and all I could think of was the guy who signs that check for $900 is not going home happy. It's a friggin' Bennigans and now it's a $1000 bucks.
Oh, and one more thing: maybe could you let the staff at King's Fish House know:
per State Law: you are not once allowed to touch face/hair/each other while serving food? Good Lord! How do you get a foodhandlers card in Maricopa County and not know this? Hmmm. Somehow King's Fish House employees missed these memos. Sheesh. Or worse. Its disgusting and I saw at least half a dozen crewmembers ignore this strict food policy.
HAND CONTAMINATION
IS THE MOST COMMON CAUSE OF
FOOD-BORNE ILLNESS. Fact.
IF YOU TOUCH YOUR FACE OR HAIR YOU MUST WASH
Slow Service. There wasn't one thing, not one instance I encountered in my visit that could've been defined as "prompt". Doesn't the word "tip", stand for "to insure promptness"? Kinda does.
And one more thing, (again): fix your website. I hit "contact us" and got the recipe page. I hit the recipe page link and got recipes. The prices on the menu were not at all current. IN OTHER WORDS, WHY ISN'T ANYONE AT BENNIGANS, errrrr, KING'S FISH HOUSE -- paying attention to your website?
And one more thing: do ya just take any image, of anyone, anything, put a frame around it, and hang it in the wall? Is that interior decorating nowadays? Because they've got stuff on the wall that is so random, so arbitrary, so busy, so nothing-to-do-with-fish, it's not so much "odd"as it is just so ordinary. No one, not even King's Fish House, aspires to ordinary.
So average. Slow service. Buy somebody else's Groupon...or just go around the corner to Portillos. This place blows.
