I was about to only give this two stars for the out of date feeling when I first walked into this place then I found out it is one of Toronto's oldest pubs!
Okay so my first experience of this place was on a night out with work and arriving here I was like 'oh man not another pub'!
So I wobbled to the bar and ordered a Guinness which was $8 and by chance happened to be the exact amount of change I had plus a $5 note. Now I dont want to sound like a total scrooge, because I do normally always tip, but I did not want to break a $20 just for the sake of a tip which I would give on the next round.
What I did not expect was the bar girl to stand there and actually wait for the tip....when stuff like this happens I break out in giggles and walk away.
So yeah that was pretty lame for any bar staff to think it is a punters obligation to tip.
Once seated at our table the service was good, it was a male staff covering our section and he was always quick, polite and generally kept busy keeping the tables cleared and everyone happy. (Worthy of a tip)
I went again on the weekend when I remembered they had a patio, and even better a television outside to watch the footy on and being on King and Bathurst it was convenient for my friend to get down from uptown without too many changes.
The food menu is pretty good, a wide selection of pub food including some curries :D
Beer - well never a good point in any place and flat as usual but all in all reasonably priced.
Again the service was good and with the sun out its a good spot to watch the game.
