| - I've been hearing about lidl for months now. Yesterday I decided to jump in. I drove 10 miles to a grocery store. When we first enter the bakery is a welcomed sight. I though "this is lovely". But as I walked down the aisles I felt, "They sell a whole lot of nothing". The prices were just ok compared to ALDI, whom I believe is who they are coming for.
The produce section I felt was very small. My wife is celiac, so Gluten Free items are a must, which they did have, but sadly, not clearly marked. Simply using a hi-liter to set the GF sign apart would have been a nice touch.
There's a nice wine and beer section, but it wasn't enough to change my opinion. The store was large, clean and organized and the announcements did make me feel like I was in europe for a moment. If it were closer, I would consider giving it another try. But as it stands, we won't be back. BTW, we did still spend $92 on 30 items and still had to go to Aldi to finish the shopping.
