| - I am writing this review due to the poor service my mother received at The Palm in the Forum Shops on Friday, Sept. 8th, 2017. She has been a loyal customer of your establishment for many years and has always received great service which is one of the main reasons she returns time and time again. But to her surprise, on above mentioned day she was at the receiving end of some very poor service. I feel it is important that you be aware of the behavior of one of your employees.
My mother, Elsy, travelled to Las Vegas from Matamoros, Mexico in order to celebrate her 66th birthday with her brother and sister. On the said date, she chose to have her birthday dinner at her favorite Las Vegas restaurant, The Palm. Unfortunately, she and her siblings were mistreated by a very rude waitress. Her disagreeable and antagonistic attitude was felt the second she greeted the group. My mother kindly asked her if the restaurant carried a "House Wine" and the waitress responded in the most antagonistic manner by asking: "What do you mean House Wine? Do you want red or white? Do want a bottle or a glass? I don't understand what you are saying." A lot of restaurants have some sort of "House Wine" on the menu and my mother innocently asked if The Palm offered one. The response from your employee was demeaning and made my mother feel like she was asking an absurd or nonsensical question. This is completely unacceptable and condescending behavior from your employee. My mother, furious and on the verge of tears, then said that they needed time to look through the wine menu. The waitress rolled her eyes and walked away. They would not see her for another 15 minutes. When the waitress returned she showed a severe lack of interest. My uncle proceeded to order a bottle of Marques de Caceres Gran Reserva. The waitress took the order, left and returned almost 20 minutes later with a bottle of Marques de Caceres Reserva (not the Grand Reserva that was ordered). My uncle told her that this was not the bottle they had ordered and she defiantly said that it was. By this point, all 3 guests were irritated by your employee and asked for a new server and to speak to the manager. She said she would tell the manager on duty, Kellie, to come by the table. Twenty minutes passed and no one had been by their table. They finally decided to leave the restaurant.
One of your bussers (possibly another server) approached the group as she could see that they were all visibly outraged and had been disrespected. She notified my mother that the Manager on Duty was a lady by the name of Kellie Endraske and that she should approach her and tell her what she had experienced. The Manager was at the Front Desk greeting other customers. She was attentive to my mother's complaint and told her to please write her an email. My mother does not have an email so she kindly asked me to write one on her behalf. I sent an email to Kellie and the General Manager Lawrence Close on Sept. 14th. I did not hear back from either of them. I sent a follow up email on Sept. 21st and have heard nothing. I understand that this mishap occurred on a Friday night and your restaurant must have been very busy. I too am in the restaurant industry and know this from experience. However, this was her birthday dinner and you asked the Manager on Duty asked my mother to "write you an email". If I was in her shoes, I would have asked them to stay at their table and told them they would be sending a new server. My mother might not have been clear when she spoke to the manager, but she wanted to stay and celebrate with her family at The Palm. They did not give her this choice. She did not want any comps. She just wanted a welcoming and friendly server.
My mother was humiliated, ignored and mistreated on the evening of her 66th birthday. I am appalled to hear that your waitress portrayed a large amount of incompetence and a terrible attitude towards my family. I request you to kindly investigate and take action against her. I trust this is not the way The Palm wishes to conduct business with valued customers. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss matters further and to learn of how you propose to prevent a similar situation from recurring. I look forward to hearing from you.
