On the 4th of July weekend our 6 year old hot water heater failed. I called Whirlpool who opened a Case and they recommended I call Sound Plumbing. The tech from Sound said he didn't have the part to fix my unit and it might be Thursday or 5 days before the part was available because of the Holiday. He explained for $1120 he could replace the unit immediately. He said the old unit was out of warranty. He did a quick and very efficient job. A week later I received an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization} from Whirlpool. Confused I called Whirlpool and found out the unit had a 12 year warranty and someone had tried to get the RMA so they could return my unit to Lowes for a full refund. Since my email was on file it came to me. I called Sound. Even though the Office Manager said nothing went to salvage without her okay, nobody could find my unit. Without the unit, no refund. The owner finally offer a settlement of $250 for an $850 heater I could have returned. I told him it was "better than a poke in the eye". This whole think stinks of an inside job but no way to prove it.
I have lodged a Complaint with Whirlpool as well.
I won't recommend Sound to anyone.
I would have used Butter Plumbing because they have done work for us before but didn't have the option on this project.
