I had eaten there four times previously (in 2005, 2006 and 2007) and enjoyed it as a free-flying single gal. Then I got married and had a baby. In our first date in a long while (2012), I booked a table for Lotus of Siam. The food was okay, but not as good as I'd remembered, but the worst part of it was when I saw a large cockroach--yes, a COCKROACH!!--and I could only gape and point speechlessly. My husband killed the cockroach and informed our waiter, who took it away but did not apologize or call the manager to apologize. No recompense was offered at all. I would have complained further, but my husband did not want to press the issue, so we left quietly. Maybe bugs are par for the course in an old building downtown, but it was not pleasant to have one sharing our dining experience.
