  • The wife and I have a friend who lives in Vegas, so we have a good resource for the off the beaten path places. Our friend had heard about Velveteen Rabbit, but had never been there before, when we first checked it out last year. We had so much fun that we made some return visits on our most recent Vegas trip. Velveteen Rabbit is definitely not on the radar of your average visitor to Las Vegas as it is in the old downtown area, far away from the Strip. It's located on Main Street, which is currently under major reconstruction. The wife likes consignment shops and the like so we usually visit the Buffalo Exchange across the street and there are several other places that we like to visit in old Vegas, like Goodwich for a sandwich or Makers and Finders for coffee. I would say that the majority of people that go here are locals that live nearby. Velveteen Rabbit definitely has its own vibe with a traditional long wooden bar to go along with several antique couches and chairs, etc. They usually have some funky music playing and they even had some live music one night that we visited. I just noticed that I've made it this far into the review and haven't mentioned their signature item, their drinks! We usually wind up in Las Vegas at the same time every year, so we have only experienced the Fall menu. I presume that means there are 3 other seasonal menus that we have yet to experience. Life goals, I guess. The menu is a collaborative effort from all the mixologists on staff, and in the end, the drinks are for the vast majority all delicious and you will try something new or some strange combination that you would never have tried before. Or they can make you a rum and coke if that's what you really want, but you should really try something from their menu. I believe that we tried the whole seasonal menu this time between the three of us and all but one of the drinks was a winner. Cheers to many happy returns.
