Dillon's is apparently a chain of sport bar/Kansas City bbq restaurants. The one I visited was set in one of the Phoenix megapolis shopping centers. The crowd was a mix of young and old, most seemed oblivious of the 10 or 12 large TV screens that each had some sort of sporting event on them. The noise level was moderate to high, but we had no trouble hearing each other at our table.
The servers were friendly and as attentive as they could be, since it was a busy night for a Thursday. It took longer than I expected to get our meal, but our drinks appeared very quickly.
I had the build your own plate. Choice of 2 meats and 2 sides from a list of 7 or 8 of each. $19.99, which seemed fair as the portions were substantial. I had the beef ribs and burnt ends, with the potato salad and bbq beans. I chose the hottest bbq sauce they had, the hot-sweet sauce.
The ribs were smoked and so tender I didn't need anything but my fork to pull the meat off the bone. The burned ends were equally tender, both were delicious. The bbq sauce had a pleasant mixture of sweet and heat, although I would have preferred more of the latter! The potato salad had more mayo than I like, but was ok. The beans were delicious.
My wife had fish tacos and thought they were very good. And huge! We saw lots of people asking for containers for their leftovers.
