| - I am a nurse who has worked in Long Term Care and Skilled Nursing for a number of years, Due to a neurological disease, I am now a patient here. While there are a few things that I definitely would change, for the most part I am quite satisfied with my treatment.
I did a lot of asking around beforehand and almost everyone has said of the LifeCare facilities in the area, that this is by far the nicest. One huge advantage is that every room is a private room. The therapy staff is absolutely wonderful and I have made great strides in a couple of weeks here.
The nursing staff have all been very nice to me, and I have not met one nurse or CNA that didn't seem to enjoy their job. They are almost always polite and courteous. However, they are also extremely busy. Sometimes, they help with something and before you can ask for a second thing, they are halfway out the door to answer the next call light. Other posts are correct in that the wait time when you press the call light is far beyond anything I have ever seen or expected. However, it is not that staff is standing around...they are just super busy. But that is not much consolation when you urgently need to use the restroom and wait 20-30 minutes for help to arrive. It is not always that long, but depending on the time of day, it is often close.
My overall opinion is that this is a good facility that could be absolutely great if only it was staffed better. They desperately need more CNAs. They have a good group to start with...quite a few have been there 10-15 years or more. When turnover is that low among CNAs, this tells me it is a pretty good place.
I am grateful to the staff for helping me this far along and look forward to my next phase of rehabilitation...LifeCare of Scottsdale has been a good start.
