| - I went to the Wynn Buffet for dinner as my last meal in Vegas. My first impression of the buffet is that it is probably the prettiest buffer on the Strip. It's bright, colorful, whimsical, and has very pretty flowers. There was no line when I arrived (5PM on a Friday), so that was an added plus. It cost about $45 per person and you can add an all-you-can-drink deal for about $20 more. The price wasn't bad - less than Wicked Spoon and Bacchanal.
On to the food - everything was pretty good, but nothing was particularly memorable. I have a huge appetite and tried most of the items. First of all, the organization of the buffet is kind of strange. Starting from the far left, there is the seafood, sushi, assorted Chinese food, ramen station, carving station, American classics, tacos, pizza, Italian, seafood, bread, charcuterie, soup and salad, and dessert. I guess it would make more sense, if I started on the right side, but still, the order was kind of weird to me.
Anyway, for the seafood - the crab legs were on point (especially with the butter DUH). I think this was the best item of the buffet. The shrimp cocktail was decent, but nothing out of this world. Sushi was not good - pass. The Chinese food was decent, especially the dim sum and duck buns - of course there is better Chinese food in Chinatown, but this was pretty good to satisfy a craving. The ramen was surprisingly very good. There are a few broths you can choose from and you can choose whichever toppings you like. Quite tasty and the ramen man was very friendly. The best part of the carving station was the lamb chops. They were tasty and perfectly cooked. I was very disappointed by the prime rib, as it was way overdone despite me asking for medium rare. The thick cut bacon was also very salty - very disappointing. From the assorted American classics, I enjoyed the truffled mac and cheese, but the other dishes were not memorable. I didn't eat the tacos, pizza, or Italian food. I had some red snapper from the seafood station, which was pretty good. The charcuterie selection was very good and definitely one of my favorite parts of the buffet. Dessert was delicious as well - probably the best dessert bar at a Vegas buffet (which says a lot) - I enjoyed the rotating ice cream wheel and also the carrot cake.
$45 for dinner is pretty typical for a Vegas meal. Despite the buffet being gorgeous and all of the food being pretty good, Wicked Spoon and Bacchanal still take the cake for me. I think prime rib is one of the essential things at a Vegas buffet, yet it was very poorly done here. Also, the service here was not good. The waitress hardly cleaned our table yet was very attentive to surrounding tables.
Will I be back? Maybe if I am in Vegas for a prolonged amount of time. If I only had one buffet meal, I definitely would be at Bacchanal instead.
