A lovely and expensive cocktail lounge.
The Dorsey feels pretty upscale for a Las Vegas lounge, but that perception might be skewed by the fact that it's right off the raucous Venetian casino floor. Muted earth tones and a faux-library vibe give the place an inviting atmosphere.
Thankfully, the drinks are just are impressive as the vibe. I tried the Van Brunt gimlet and a classic Aviation, and both were made with care and served by some of the friendliest bartenders I've encountered in my Vegas travels.
As the same time, you have all the drawbacks of cocktails on the Strip -- oppressive smoke, inflated prices, and that uncomfortable feeling in the back of your mind that you're contributing to the corporate casino-industrial complex instead of supporting a local mom-n-pop shop.
But, I guess that last part is really the topic of another review.
