| - I've been sitting on writing this review for a while now because I really wanted to LOVE this restaurant. But I left kind of just feeling like it was okay.
First of all, I was on a work trip and dinning with my colleagues. The service was fabulous and I really felt as if our table was catered to. We had lots of questions for the server and he answered them all with great sense of humor and attitude. I felt he not only really knew the menu, but he really loved the dishes he recommended.
My favorite, FAVORITE part of the meal was the chips and salsa. The chips were fresh and the salsa was delicious. I also liked the guacamole, but it was also nothing too special. Just your average, fresh, restaurant guac. We also ordered a salad to share, which I wasn't too jazzed about. I know a few of my colleagues didn't love that the salad didn't seem to match the description. And they were right, the actual dish didn't really match the description.
For my entree I got some tacos with a side of their street corn, served in a bowl. I'll start with the corn because I'd never had Mexican street corn before. So, yea... I'm not a mayo fan and I really felt like this was a bowl of hot corn in a bunch of mayo with crumbly cheese on top. I took one bite and decided it wasn't for me. However, I really feel like if I tried traditional Mexican street corn on the cob, I would like it better. Maybe the ratio of creamy/cheesy/corn is better that way. The tacos were good, but didn't really leave me thinking about them after I left.
Overall, I just didn't really like much beyond the chips and salsa as much as I thought I would. However, I do feel like I'd come back to try other menu items because this is one of those times I feel like I just ordered the wrong thing. My colleagues tried the pork tacos for two and I think that's what I should have done. And just reading the reviews about them proves that I need to come back to try them.
