| - I've stayed at quite a few hotels lately, and the Clarendon Hotel was a nice surprise. Yes, there is a $20 "resort fee," but you really get a lot for that price: free soda and snacks (at any hour, cans of pop and snack bags of chips, granola bars, fruit snacks, etc.), courtesy bikes (nifty pastel colored), the pool, hot tub (surprisingly large), covered parking, and a neat photo machine that sends you digital copies without logos or branding. The room was very clean! The room smelled a little like cleaning products, but the smell went away quickly. The air conditioning did a great job, but I would've preferred a louder fan for white noise. I had requested non-feather pillows in my reservation, and the front desk staff fulfilled that with a smile. Speaking of them, the front desk staff was incredibly pleasant, informative, and friendly. The shower in the room wasn't working correctly, and maintenance came up at 10pm (just five minutes after I called the front desk) and had it fixed in no time flat. They even brought replacement parts with them so they didn't have to make a separate trip. Overall, I'm very pleased with the location (safe, 12 minutes to PHX airport) and the quality of the room.
