  • I was very excited when I heard that One Zo was a Taiwanese chain that made their own flavoured tapioca. You're probably thinking what I thought -- "wow, legit bubble tea in Toronto". Alas, the hype was not real. They heavily market their "handmade" tapioca, but it is very gimmicky. I asked for a small sample of each of the flavours and I could not discern which flavour was which. Some are just different coloured, that's it. All of them tasted the same -- flavourless. The exception was the black sesame tapioca, but the flavour was still very mild. The tea was nothing to write home about. The reviews you have read here are accurate. The worst part of my whole OneZo experience though, was the service I received. I arrived at 12:15pm one day and a man came to the door and told me that they were not open until 12:45pm. I thought that was odd and asked to confirm if the hours on the web that said they open at 12 noon were correct. It was only then, that the man told me that they were experiencing "technical" issues. There was no sign on the door, nothing, not even an apology. I had driven quite far to try their bubble tea and paid to park on Yonge Street too, so I was pretty annoyed. I came back later on in the day and the same man was behind the counter. He recognized me, but instead of apologizing for the inconvience earlier on in the day, he asked me, as I asked for a loyalty card, "didn't I already give you a loyalty card this afternoon?" The answer is no, and in hindsight, I probably did not need one, because there are many more better bubble tea places out there who value their customers and have much better tapioca and bubble tea. When I commented on their Instagram post that I received very poor service at the North York location, they initially replied that they believe they provide great service, but if I thought otherwise, that I would be welcome to go somewhere else. I've uploaded a screenshot of that post. Firstly, I do not need their permission to patronize any other bubble tea shops. Secondly, their patronizing response exactly illustrates my point. Instead of expressing concern, they deleted my comments and then eventually deleted the entire photo off their feed and blocked me and another customer from their account because we expressed our opinions. Shocking customer service. Do not try to give any feedback about their products on their Instagram, you will be hit with very defensive replies. The person who curates their Instagram account thinks that you are trying to "defame" them. All I have to say to that is, please get a grip.
