Not too happy with the business of LA Fitness. Signed up for a membership yesterday, paid the fees and was ready to get my summer body started. I got a telephone call from an "area manager" who didn't even work at the gym I signed up with and started the conversation off with "I noticed you overpaid on your membership and we've got a special running this weekend taking off a specific dollar amount and upgraded membership to any gym in Arizona." Initially I said I was interested but then backed out after being asked for my credit card information. I told "Mark" that I really didn't care what I had paid, that it would pay itself off and that I can submit to my work for reimbursement. He continued to say "ok, well I'm sorry I'm just trying to help those who overpaid on the 99.99 initiation fee." I thanked him, and again said that "I don't care about the fee, it doesn't bother me what I paid." He said he would send me some secure link to the special they where running and then check back with me. About 10-15 minutes later I get an email saying that my membership was cancelled. Didn't consent to cancel my membership AND refused the additional offer. WTF LA Fitness. Called the gym and was only offered to come in and work out for the day until this was resolved but will need to re-pay the additional fees. Would have been nice to hear "shoot, we're so sorry this happened, we'll waive this fee, or credit this to your membership." The woman didn't even sound like she knew ANYTHING about some promotion running over the weekend. Come on.
