I spend a good amount of time in Las Vegas and it's usually not the typical tourist experience. However, a trip to The Strip with some rich food and holiday people watching hits the spot. Such was the case for Mon Ami Gabi.
Normally getting a lunch table outside would take hours. But during the non-busy times like Christmas Eve, it was a 15 minute wait. Go grab a drink at one of the nearby bars and wait for the restaurant beeper to go off.
The weather was perfect for patio dining! Didn't even need a jacket, just some sunglasses and a scarf. Just like Paris.
Our lunch threesome enjoyed a bottle of Chablis, along with some baked goat cheese as a starter. No complaints about either. For our entrees we each had our own plate - mussels and frites for me. I should've done a half order but my hangover told me otherwise. The steaming bowl of white wine sauce was so delicious. One could say that drinking that stuff is a meal in itself.
Beyond the buttery goodness, we got to see a few renditions of the Bellagio fountain show and some crazy looking tourists carrying around bags and bags of luxury shopping purchases. It truly felt like vacation and I loved every minute.
For three people to eat, plus a bottle of vino was $165 plus tip. Not too shabby. Definitely a treat reserved for special occasions.
