  • Mad House. I feel like I'm going to lose my mind here. I waited a full 2 months to write this as I saw it only fair to allow time to iron out the opening glitches. Parking: decent sized lot, but I find myself circling to find a spot. Many of the stores in this center, including a larger cafe are not open yet - parking will only become worse. When you enter the gym you are immediately forced to jump in line to scan in. You are also hit in the face with the overwhelming reality that this gym is TOO FREAKING CROWDED!! People in every little corner, you can't even walk in a straight line. I have tried different times to avoid the crowds - always slammed. Don't even showing up on a Mon/Tues. Layout is inefficient. Great functional fitness area. Unfortunately this is also the only area for people to do any kind of body weight, stretching, abs. People stationed all over the turf equals zero shot of doing things like battle ropes, sled, trx. It is also smack in the center of the gym so you need to bob and weaving through equipment. During pre-enrollment they said there would be "boxing area" and might offer boxing/kickboxing classes. NOPE, the boxing area - consists of ONE too short & too light bag . Also told there would be a sauna, unless I missed it that doesn't exist either. They have a very busy half-court basketball area and 3 lane pool. The daycare is huge. ** additional fee. Cardio theatre is on the smaller side. Locker room is a nice, but they have only blowers -no paper towels which is cool, but be careful the floor is always wet and you will likely wipe out at some point. Need mats by sinks. Cleanliness: there is always a cleaning person working, but one person can't keep up with 300 members at one time. Be prepared, cleaning products used are extremely harsh - nothing like instant sore throat & gaging on burning chemicals while trying to catch your breath. Seriously, get some green cleaning products, this is a health seeking crowd. Barbells: only come in 10lbs increments which kinda stinks because jumping that much on certain exercises is hard so you are either going too light or too heavy, especially since most of the barbells are being used. So If you need a 40 options are usually only 20 or 60lbs...totally legit for your workout.. Dumb bells: anything lower than 27lbs is located in a tight cluster of a corner so 1- you can barely get into that area so, 2 - since it is a pain to go over there, people avoid it by not returning the weights or taking multiples at once. The rack is usually empty. So just when I am at my wits end because it is so crowded I can't even move, the music is way too freaking loud, it is ice cold, you can't get on any equipment - now I can't even find a stupid weight to work out with. I mean if you can't even get a good workout - what am I paying for? That brings me to the most aggravating part of this gym experience -Membership levels. They advertise a $9.95/month membership. This is the No frills membership - weight room only. If you want access to the pool, cardio theater, other locations, travel privileges, guest passes, sauna, group classes - yoga, zumba, spinning ...., etc. you must have a Gold Membership - currently going for $19.95/month. During pre-enrollment I really grilled them on how they plan to enforce this as it was the main reason I left Gold's Gym (now EOS in this market) I was told they had this under control - members would have to scan their tags to access the upgraded amenities, and it would be a one person entry so 100 people couldn't piggy back off one person. Sounds great right, too bad there are NO scanners! So all the stuff I pay extra for - can be freely enjoyed by everyone. I have yet to use a group class, cardio theater, spin class and more because the rooms are always packed... likely with people whose memberships don't include that. As this point really infuriates me I have inquired a few times about this and have been told a few different lines of crap. "the scanners are on back order" "we want everyone to try everything for now"... blah, blah, blah. As this issue will never effectively be resolved I said I wanted to downgrade from a gold to a basic membership, and was told there would be a $40 downgrade fee. Really?? You already nail me for an annual "rate guarantee fee" of $40. Enrollment/planning for this gym started almost a year before opening so I don't want to hear the words back ordered, it's called bad planning. And if you want to let everyone enjoy everything for "FREE" at first.... How dare you charge anyone more than $9.95/month until you enforce the access and membership levels. I'm beings serious... you need to credit gold members the difference they pay from $9.95 You should be ashamed of yourselves for that one.
