| - I really, really love this place. People, process, results. That's what it's all about.
First, Crossfit is great and if you haven't looked into it, do a little research and know that it's the workout program for you and me that are looking for functional strength and great results in a short amount of time. Sure, we could do 10 sets of preacher curls and get giant biceps but what do those really do for us when we're standing around with chicken legs and a big gut on the beach? It's time to get functional and that's what Crossfit does.
I'm a busy guy and I'm sure you are as well. I don't have time to spend 2 hours in the gym each day or spend 6 hours cycling anymore. Enter Ctown Crossfit. I used to work out in the gym and every time I went there I tried to figure out what I was going to do. Is it chest day? legs? back and biceps? Yeah, that's small thinking. I didn't have a plan and the lack of results proved that. What I love about Ctown Crossfit is that I don't have to think about the workout. I show up and do the same workout that every other person does and it has all been thought out ahead of time. I get a full body workout with the best exercises available.
Basically Ctown is an awesome personal trainer without the personal trainer cost, with other people to work out with, and with better results. I don't spend 1 minute thinking about what my workout is. I show up, sign in, and I get one of the best workouts of my life.
Ctown sets themselves apart from other Crossfit boxes (gyms) in a few ways. The coaches and other members of the box are great. Really accepting, willing to help out, and not at all snobby about newbies or people getting into shape. Come on, most of us aren't professional athletes (or even close) and are just trying to get into good shape. This atmosphere makes it easy. Every workout is easily scaled to your abilities so you're not going to hurt yourself and you can actually finish workouts around the same time as other people. That's nice! I've been Crossfitting for a couple of years and I still scale workouts. Don't worry about it.
One of the biggest things I like about Ctown compared to other boxes I've worked out at is that they add a time limit to each workout of the day (WOD) that they do. If you're not feeling well, not in great shape, or just moving slow on a certain day, you don't get into a death march of a workout that lasts forever. There's always a reasonable time limit to let you work your hardest but know that it's going to end sometime. I really like this because I can push myself really hard and not worry about whether I did 75% or 100% of the whole workout. I get a great workout at high intensity.
Another big plus is that Ctown is setup on Wodify, which is a great app for tracking your workouts, weights you've lifted, and estimates for future workouts. Coaches make sure you enter your workouts which is great because I always know what weight I lifted before and what I can expect to lift in the future. Big, big plus here.
There's not much more to say here and I'm sure I don't need to add another paragraph but... I highly recommend CTown Crossfit. I'm a big fan.
