  • Ok, so the practice home of our Vegas Golden Knights is just that, a practice home. It doesn't have all the frills of an arena where games are played and history is made. The two rinks don't seat a lot of people. The seats aren't at all comfortable. Not even a little. They are benches with no backs. And they set too high to be comfortable for anybody less than about 6 feet tall. I am 5'7" and my feet were dangling. To come here and watch a practice for about an hour would be fine. But to come here as I did last night for several hours was, to be planely honest, painful. My back, my knees and just about every other major joint ached by the time I left. I was there for a charity hockey tournament. Game one was Las Vegas Police Knights vs Las Vegas Police Gold. The main even was Las Vegas Police vs Las Vegas Fire. Proceeds went to support the injured officers fund. It was standing room only. And that leads me to the good parts of City National Arena. It is so much more than just a practice arena. This is a community venue. There are two rinks that get used by the public. Ice skating, youth hockey, adult hockey clubs around town, UNLV hockey. Even in the off season for the Knights this place is getting used. And if the rinks aren't enough there is a gift shop, rental counter and a restaurant. There is a lot going on here. It is a quality facility that should be a staple in the community for years to come. Despite the uncomfortable seating.
