I live nearby this practice arena for The Golden Knights and have been wanting to check this place out for a while. On my birthday weekend, hubby woke me up on Sunday morning and asked me to go get ready for a surprise. We were out the door by 8:30am and unbeknownst to me on our way to this "cool" place. When we arrived, I was surprised with a gift. My own GK jersey. Of course, I had to change and wear it proudly!
The arena has an open and ample parking lot for a lot of cars but still provides close proximity to access the arena. We quickly made our way through the main doors and entered the first arena on the right. Deciding to stand along the perimeter of the rink, we had a great view of the Knights hour long practice. The rink is large and is also used by the UNLV team. To the right of the rink are the bleachers and on this day they were full of Las Vegas fans! It was so great to see so much support for our new hockey team.
Featured on the left side of the building is another rink and that offers public skating when hockey teams aren't practicing. Upstairs, in the middle of the two rinks is the restaurant called Mackenzie River Pizza Grill and Pub which offers great views, brews and food. On the far right side of the building is the Knights team store Arsenal at City National Arena. I will review the store and restaurant separately.
Overall, I had a great time checking out this new, clean, neighborhood facility. I never new how much fun it could be to have our own NHL Hockey team to root for! GO KNIGHTS!
