| - Decided to drive out of my way for paintless dent removal form Streamline Auto Care based on the glowing reviews of their detailing work. And the reviews are indeed glowing on Yelp and Google. I would have no reason to believe that their detailing is anything but top notch and the owner seemed like a good guy.
I am not sure the exact relationship their paintless dent removal person is with Streamline Auto, but I don't think I could recommend their guy any less. I brought in my car for some hail damage and their PDR guy said he could remove a pretty sizable fender dent to about 90%. He quoted me $450 for the whole set of dents, which seemed like a fair price, especially to remove the largest dent from my car.
After my car was ready, the PDR guy said he not get out the dent. I asked how much it was without being able to get rid of the big dent, and he said, "$450." He said $450 was a good price even without the removing the giant dent, and that it was only "questionable" that the dent could have been removed. When I reminded him he said it would be 90%, he started mumbling that he should explain things better beforehand, then started breaking down his usual quotes and telling me it was a good deal even if I'm paying him to remove dents he could not remove.
After arguing with him, he reluctantly knocked of $25. Yes, I paid a guy to remove a large dent that cannot be removed with PDR. As far as I am concerned, the PDR at this location is one level above a scam artist. If (for whatever reason) you get PDR work done here, get a broken down quote in writing beforehand, because the PDR guy does not stand by his work or his quote.
To top it off, while driving off, I noticed a strap on my driver's side mirror cover flapping in the wind. I did not have mirror cover work done, so I was wondering why it was suddenly not connected. I checked it out after getting back to Charlotte and saw that the strap had actually been cut, and simply disconnected. Again, I had no work done under the mirrors, and if they were removed, I don't know how the velcro strap wasn't just pulled back. It makes absolutely no sense, but now I can't use my mirror covers.
I don't think I've ever been more livid with a job I've had done. I was upsold on something the PDR guy could not do, paid for it anyways, and had something on my car ruined. I went down to Waxhaw in the hopes I could get quality work done at a decent price, and I got neither. At least my hail damage has been expensively fixed.
