  • We recently moved to the area so we needed to find a new dentist. Once the insurance kicked in I looked to see who was nearby and I found Dentistry at South Lake, where Drs. Tampoya and Yura do their dental thing. I made an appointment and went in today for the initial visit. First thing I want to say is that the place looks great. This isn't your typical enclosed, sterile, white-walled dentist office. The main lobby is huge and there are windows everywhere, giving you not only a nice view but also letting in a ton of natural light. There is a separate enclosed kids room so you can drop the munchkins off in there while you get your teeth cleaned. The receptionist was very friendly, and about five minutes after arriving they were ready to get started on me. The dental hygienist was friendly and very thorough. I was in there for about 90 minutes, but that includes the fact that it was my first visit, plus the time needed to take x-rays. The exam room is just like the lobby; a large room with a window that gives a decent view and natural light. They even give you sunglasses so that you don't have to worry about the overhead lamp hurting your eyes. The hygienist did a great job and I don't think my previous dentist ever cleaned my teeth as good. I met with Dr. Tampoya and, like the rest of the staff, he was very friendly. He looked everything over, gave me the ok and sent me on the way. I would definitely recommend going to Dentistry at South Lake. The hygienists do one heck of a job and pay a lot of attention to detail, and everyone is extremely friendly. The spacious, bright offices make you forget that you're going to a dentist, and the fact that you don't feel like you're going into a closet or a dungeon really helps make the experience slightly better. No one likes going to the dentist, but if you have to go you mine as well go somewhere that is friendly and comfortable.
