| - WORST INSURANCE COMPANY EVER! Minimum 1hr hold times, indescribably incompetent customer service, will steal your money, deny your claims, website services do not work, cannot select a PCP, and generally do everything to make your life miserable.
Longer story of how horrible Health Plan of Nevada is:
My pregnant wife and I signed up and paid for their $800/month HMO plan during the open enrollment period at the end of 2014. Right off the bat they enrolled us in the wrong plan. After literally hours of time spent waiting on hold, tears of frustration, and speaking to countless incompetent customer service agents, we thought they had finally gotten us enrolled in the right plan.
January rolls around and we get a "You have not paid your premium for this month" notice. I check my credit card statements and they certainly billed us $800 back in December for January. Countless more hours dealing with customer service, and turns out they never actually got us switched over to the right plan. They tell us we have to cancel our plan, they will refund our money, and then we have to try to re-enroll. So we do, and pay another $800 to enroll in the plan we originally tried to enroll in back in December.
3 weeks go by, and it appears we are enrolled in the right plan, but the $800 we paid back in December was not refunded as they promised. Another couple hours on hold with customer service and they refuse to help. So now for all practical purposes, they've stolen $800 from us.
My poor pregnant wife has had a terrible time trying to get her pre-natal care appointments covered. HPN continually makes her life miserable by losing PCP information, denying coverage, etc.
So if you like misery, horrible customer service and getting ripped off, then go ahead and pay $800/mo to HPN. Unbelievable to pay that much and get such terrible garbage.
