  • For a new business, the Ballroom are sure doing a good job at turning people away already with a range of poor service, expensive activities and mediocre bar offerings. I was excited when I first heard a bowling alley was opening up downtown in Toronto. My face looked a little something like this :D even. I understand that a downtown location can make things pricey and I was willing to try this place regardless, but then scored a coupon for cheap bowling so decided to UYE it up with some fellow "lane sports enthusiasts" (thanks, Karl!). My overall impression of the place itself is a glorified sports bar that's trying to throw in a few hip games and activities to draw people in and spend money. Bowling is the most expensive of the lot, but there's also pool tables, ping pong, a few video games and a mini shuffleboard table that *all* cost something to play. I understand if your main draw is bowling you're going to have a fee for it, but surely the peripheral activities could be free to encourage people to spend time in your establishment, spending money on food & booze? Curious business model, that. Customer service is poor to non-existent - even bordering on offensive. When we had our lane come up we were told (completely erroneously) that the coupon we were going to use wasn't valid for weekend matinee bowling. When your business has matinee bowling times - not days, times - yet decides to impose day restrictions as well on a coupon that has no such information in the fine print, it's more than a little suss. And when we speak to the manager about it, and the manager does nothing to actually try and help us/make something positive out of situation and actually tells us bald-faced lies, it makes me extremely hesitant to spend time here, and I certainly won't return. Chad M, Roma M & Karl R have spoken to our experience at the Ballroom this fated Sunday afternoon also, and I urge you to read their reviews as well. It's amazing what the Ballroom have done to shoot themselves in the foot in one afternoon - and I wonder how many more people they're driving away with their attitudes? When it could've been so easy to redeem themselves to create goodwill to paying customers, they have created a sucking black hole of hatred toward them and everything they stand for in making that part of downtown a generally shitty place to be. Thanks, Ballroom! You've made my one-star list with a bullet.
