  • From the outside, this restaurant is beautiful. The patio is cozy & intimate. The inside is chic with authentic decor and fancy chandeliers. Unfortunately, the substance of the restaurant (food & drinks) fell flat. We sat on the patio for a late lunch so some of the items suggested by fellow Yelpers were not available on that menu. The restaurant was not very busy during this time so our service was quick and attentive. Here's the lowdown on what we ordered: - Table-side guacamole: obviously b/c it was recommended by everyone here! The portion was just enough for 2 people but not outstanding at all. In fact, it was very bland (even with all the ingredients added to it). For $12, I expected much more. - Short Rib Barbacoa Taco: topped with a massive slice of pickle on top, I wasn't sure if this was for presentation or they were too lazy to cut it into smaller pieces for easier handling. At least the pickle gave it some bite, which is more than I can say for the other Taco. - Skirt Steak Taco: the steak was chewy and the taco as a whole was very bland. I had to dip it in the salsa that came with the guacamole to add taste to it. I wouldn't recommend ordering this on a date b/c you'll be too busy trying to chew the steak to talk. - Drinks: Papaya blended margarita. They usually have 2 rotating flavors a day for frozen ones and she brought both out in a sample glass for me to try! Overall, the experience here did not stand out and I found it to be quite pricey for what we got. Not only was the food mediocre but the portions were tiny. Perhaps the tacos should be recommended as an appetizer instead? Our food also came out almost immediately, which made me question how fresh prepared this place really is. Based on my skirt steak, I wonder if it was just sitting out on the counter all day. I was hoping to experience some outstanding, authentic Mexican food here but unfortunately I can recommend better ones in Vancouver!
