| - I've been longing to try this place ever since I found it on Yelp.Which, to be honest, wasn't that long ago - it was just beginning of this week. But, I got to try it today and I'm so glad I did!
I was walking from the Eaton Center to Bay & Bloor with my friend after dinner, when I noticed the red bench on side of the sidewalk! I looked up to see the store sign, and I couldn't have been more happier to read "The Red Bench".
The moment I walked into the store, the smell of cookies baking in the oven hit my nose and got me more excited to finally see what I've only been seeing online. I found this place quite cozy - not too big, not too small - with about 3 small tables, and a bar table along wall. I wonder how crowded it would get if all the seats get taken and people have to stand to either wait for their cookies or eat up. But, you know what, I didn't have that problem tonight, so not my business.
Although I really enjoyed the warm atmosphere, the people working there didn't seem that welcoming or excited. The entire time we were being served, they did not smile once. It would have made the experience more exciting and impressive if the two girls would have been more energetic, enthusiastic, and willing to help choose a combination.
Because my friend and I were already really full from dinner, we ordered one half ice cream sammie (what I've been really really craving for). We chose a brookie cookie with cookies 'n cream ice cream and crushed almonds mix-in. Total came out to be $4.50. The cookie was chewy, a bit sweet, and soft enough to be easily bitten off with the ice cream in between.
We promised to return again to try other flavors. Can't wait to try other sammie combinations, as well as, make to order custom ones!!
