| - I recently visited Charlotte to see one of my sisters my mom, my nephew and the pups. It was cool my mom drove from Atlanta to also be there. Needless to say, when I arrived, I wanted to take a nap. So I did. Then it was time to decide what to do for dinner. I had not had a burger in a while (my diet consists of 95% Mexican foods these day, no joke). So I used the trusty Yelp app, and figured I would give this place a shot. I mean, trusty Yelper Daniel B had been here before!
We pulled up, it was 7PM or so on Saturday night. I noticed this place was attached to a Mexican restaurant- and trust me, I wanted to eat there as well, but I somehow managed to fight the urge. And the fact my family was sold on burgers.
There were 5 of us total, and I was surprised the place was not more crowded, given the time. I would say about 50% of the tables were occupied. However, there was a party going on in the back room.
So they told us there would be a wait. We waited about 10 minutes. While we were waiting, I decided to play the basketball arcade they have in the waiting area. Too bad it wasn't working- I played 10 seconds then the balls all got stuck. Boo. Then I wasted 2$ trying to get a stuffed animal out of the claw machine (I used to be sadly awesome at the claws).
Then, we were called on. When walking to our table, I realized that there were a lot of TVs in this place, and the place was not crowded, so what was up with the wait? I saw too table that had not been bussed yet, that had sat like that for at least 20 minutes or so. Bleh.
I got a tall glass of Yuengling (which I then noticed was a Saturday special, score) which tasted fresh- always a good sign. I looked at the wall and saw they have food and drink specials every day of the week. Also cool they have it on Saturday. Seems like getting a beer these days is as much as getting a cocktail (maybe that is why I have been appealed to Keystone Light lately).
I got an order of fried mozzarella for the table. Tasty, but overpriced. The next choice was what type of burger to get. This place isn't limited to burgers, and you can also customize hot dogs, but I was also set on a burger.
So I got a triple. With a lot of stuff on it. Cooked medium. With a side of tater tots. I was looking forward to this monstrosity.
The food came out relatively quickly. When the burger was presented to me, the food runner told me I better eat all of that. I laughed at her, and went on my business. As I was double taking it, I kept realizing more and more how big that burger was- the picture just doesn't do it justice. It was too big to shovel in my mouth- I had to eat from the bottom, then from the top. But don't worry, I still ate it faster than the rest of table ate their single pattied burgers.
But, I almost had difficulties finishing it. Why? Because my medium burger was damn near well done, making it harder and harder near the end to be able to finish it. I looked at my sister's friends (who came along for the hell of it- good dude) burger- it was almost red. He got his medium rare. His looked like it was the perfect color. Not sure how they thought mine was medium. I used the side of bbq to help "moisten" the burger. The tots were ok, so I also dipped them in the sauce.
They had asked if we wanted dessert, I was too full to even think about dessert. So it was time to get out of here.
The place is alright, but need to get their cleaning game on point. Looks like a solid place to watch some sports and have some beer.
