I'm a New Yorker and have shopped at high end stores across the globe and can say without a hesitation that I have never been treated so poorly in my life. I walked in and was told to "go to another store." If I could rate this store with 1/2 a star or negative stars I would because it's just that bad. Horrible. Dreadful. Appalling. And down right heinous.
First let me say I was excited, really excited to start looking at wedding dresses with one of best friends in tow. We were giddy in the car looking forward to this experience. My friend Paula is a fashionista and she is the best person to go shopping with because not only does she tell it like it is she has an amazing eye on fit. So, needless to say I was happy.
When we entered the store there were at least 2 other groups of women in the store either trying on dresses or being shown dresses to select from. Paula and I decided to hang back and look around until a sales person came our way. We did not have to wait long. The initial salesperson came over and asked what we were looking for and I pulled out a few Pronovias pictures and she said that she was not sure if they had those dresses so she went to the owner of the store to check.
The owner came over with "attitude." She had a look on her face that I can not really describe outside of a look of disgust. Was she tired? Were they just busy? Or was it because I am black? Hmmm. I didn't want to go there but being a minority you have to sometimes. I looked past her attitude because I was excited and was looking forward to the dress trying on experience. With a smile on my face, I said "hi! I am looking to try on these dresses, can you help?" She said "that's Haute Couture we don't have that." I pushed and said, "do you have any other dresses that are similar?" And she looks at me with a smirk on her face and says "you need to go to another store." So, I say "you have no other dresses that you can show me?" Her response? "No" and then she walks away.
How about them apples?
So, I did some more research and found a couple of reviews from other women and she apparently treats people of color poorly.
Bottom-line - I'm going to spend my money at another store and I recommend that you do too. Don't support racism and racists.
