Yelp 100 Challenge- 2018 #76
The Hoover Dam is highly recommended if you are ever in the Vegas area. It is literally an 45 minute drive from the strip.
I visited the Hoover Dam two weeks before summer started and it was still pretty hot. I recommend bring water, snacks, comfortable walking shoes, and a hat to protect your skin from the sun.
It is pretty amazing that you can walk across the bridge from one state to another.
Visitors Center:
On my visit all tours were closed but the visitors center was open. I enjoyed the visitors center because they offered an education video as well as a slide with an employee who took questions. Admission to the visitor center is $10 and you're able to pay at the entrance of the visitors center. My experience was made 10x better after the visitor center because I was educated on must sees at the Dam.
Parking:
There is a free parking deck as soon as you enter the Dam area but if you drive a few miles down, then you can park in the parking deck. The parking deck cost $10 to park but it is less of a hike than the free parking deck and it is covered.
I think my favorite things was at the entrance with the guard. He asked me if I had any Dam questions lol.
