| - I had a very bad experience at there.
I purchased a second-hand bike from there by around $200 dollars (plus a U-lock and tax, totally around $260). After a week that I purchased the bike, the chain was broken. It's definitely very dangerous when you're riding a bike and suddenly found that the chain is broken (which means that they did not check all the bikes and do necessary repairs before they sold their bikes.) I took the bike back and ask them to repair it. Because it's still within two weeks, so they did it for me without any extra charge, but their attitude was terrible! (it was like blaming you)
More than that, the guy (an old Chinese man) who sold me the bike told me that if I take the bike back to Jacob one year later, they could offer me around $80-$100 (depending on the condition of the bike) to purchase my bike. I bought it in Sep 2013, and took the bike back in Jul 2014. Guess what the guy told me? He said, it's never possible for them to offer a price higher than $50 (U-lock included). (To make a remark here: I keep the bike very well, and the condition of the bike is roughly similar to the time when I purchased it.) I felt really angry at that moment because I thought that the guy broke his promise (I gave him the receipt and told him what he had told me. But he argued that "one year later" means before 2013, and it's now 2014........... Now I learned what "one year later" actually mean! ). Since I am moving out, I have no alternative but to sell him the bike in such a price!
So, my suggestion is that, if you really want to buy a good second-hand bike with a reasonable price, don't do it in Uncle Jacob! Buy it from craglist or other bike stores instead!
