| - Not sure why I haven't gone here before, especially since it was so close to my house. But with the recent groupon deal and the fact that they focus on more healthy, comfort food fare I finally came here with some of my family that was in town for Thanksgiving weekend.
There were many hits and misses, and while this has the potential to be a really good place, I think it still has some ways to go.
Service - really bad. Food took a long time and they forgot to bring some items we ordered. They also didn't clear plates almost the whole time we were there. Really could use improvement, and they are almost too snobby and pretentious for their own good.
The food was decent, with some very very good items, but some really didn't work. This is what we ordered (there were 8 of us):
Soup of the Day - this was a free bowl they gave us as a sample. Weirdest soup I have ever tasted, it was a hot cranberry puree with wild rice. It was very tangy from the cranberry, and completely purple/red in color. My husband and I thought it was unique and a little weirdly tasty, but my mother and some of the others absolutely hated it. This would probably delight some of the veggie/vegan people out there.
Puffy Tacos - holy moly these were absolutely incredible. They give you one of each (chicken, pork, beef) or any other combination you want. All three of them were fantastic. I dream about these, they were so good. If you like them spicy, these might seem bland to you, but honestly I didn't miss the spice they were that good.
Cobb Salad - I didn't try this but my brother in law seemed to really like it.
Roasted Veggie Sandwich - my sister liked this but I think she only ordered it for dietary reasons, as I caught her munching on a cliff bar as we were eating, since her sandwich obviously didn't fill her up.
Lobster Club - I didn't get to taste this either, but my friend who ate this said it was good but not fantastic.
Prime Beef Chili - some of the best chili I have ever tasted. Seriously.
Half Pound Burger - now this burger has potential to be one of the best in the area, except, they ruin it by using the same bread that they use for the sandwiches for this, and cut it into a round. The bottom of the burger was soaked through and that really bothered me to the point where unless they start buying some regular buns, I don't think I'd eat this, or I'd ask for a lettuce wrap instead.
Penne Arrabbiata - this was so spicy it was almost inedible. I tried to talk my husband into sending it back but he wouldn't do it. One of the worst things we had.
French Fries - my niece and nephew had some fries (they are babies) and everyone at the table liked them so much we all ate them up. Probably the best fries I have had in this area.
Anyway, give this place a try. It needs some serious improvement but I want to give it a few more chances and try some of the dinner items.
