| - We were tired. We attempted to take her to another Christian school and were turned away because of our daughters (peanut, treenut, and tuna fish allergy) around February of 2017, we weren't able to get a tour of CCLA and we grew tired of not getting feedback... we'd given up. Well, after many prayers we sent her... with hopes up high... around July/August of 2017 we were able to get a tour and ended up enrolling ...
She started in late summer of 2017, I toured and remembered immediately sharing with my family I was amazed by how safe and secure they were, how authentically real they were and how willing they were to show me all of the school (not sure they do this for everyone. But I went during the summer) IN THE SUMMER the middle school kids were having interactions reciting bible verses as if i worked past a Sunday school... very responsive, very educated, well spoken.:. Structure in the summer?!? No way?!? She showed me the library and spoke to me about the Abeka curriculum and we actually walked into a classroom where (again, since it was summertime) all of the school text books for all grades filled with educational text sat on a sea of tables before me before being distributed to classrooms. She showed me the pages my then 1.5 year old would be introduced to and I stared in admiration and awe. I couldn't believe it.
The halls and walls are met with complimentary Christ based art and quotes and if you are a Christian looking to enrich your child's relationship with God while they are academically challenged, this is where you send them. The class sizes of all ages are small but your child will learn and grow in faith.
I saw a fundraiser for new playground floor padding was being redone and new play toys were ordered... and upon our daughter becoming a student I ACTUALLY SAW THE MONEY BEING USED in this way... can you believe it?!? If you sold chocolate to your coworkers, then saw the fruits of your labor... you'd see the honest Abe this school is.
Our daughter is two years old (as of two weeks ago), she knows over 90 words and speaks them clearly, uses her manners like says "excuse me" to interrupt adult conversation, knows all of her classmates and teachers by name, the peers are consistent and so are the teachers, She speaks complete sentences, prays before her meals and prompts others to as well, counts over 12, knows over 15 words in sign language, sings many nursery songs, washes her hands properly, knew Christmas was about Jesus, uses a fork and spoon well AND recently, has converted to no sippy cup AND sits on the potty at school and at home willingly. I know it starts at home, but it's complemented at school. They play in the Gym when it's too cold to play outside and they won't let kids come back to school sick unless they've been home for 24 hours symptom free (you read that right, if your kid is sick... prepare to stay home for two days) be thankful... our girl is rarely ever sick!
There is not one complaint us parents who have been through the childhood early education ringer have. I'll tell you this much, if you've read everything to this point and you're still unsure... my husband works at a prominent Christian private school 45 minutes from home. If we were to switch her schools we would've saved 5,000 a year... and when we compared the curriculum and placement of children our daughters age amongst the kids at his school, we opted to spend the 5,000 instead and keep her at CCLA. Your child's future is worth the investment. Ms. Shanise is a savior to us, as is Ms. Nikki but I'd also mention my high praises about the front office staff Karina & Deandra who don't treat us as customers but as family friends ( I had surgery and was out of work on bedrest and other family members took her and picked her up, every single person asked how I was recovering and offered prayers for comfort) as well and the principal Tonya and "new" director Krista have CHANGED THE GAME. I don't know about the previous pastoral/director issues etc. and I don't care, as Christ followers... none of us should... I do know I've met pastor Blake Hanson on multiple occasions and he's been authentic, genuine, and loving to all parents and children I've ever seen him encounter. I know according to other reviews the school has walked though he valley of the shadow of death... but not for a moment has God forsaken the staff and for this I am thankful. I read a lot of negative reviews before deciding to see for myself... you have to see this for yourself, all I can hope is... there's enough room for your kiddo at this amazing, now flourishing school.
