As a Utah native, Arizona and their liquor laws pretty much transformed me into a fat kid in a candy store. I searched for decent liquor stores but ended up at musty places that sell more weird stuff like off-brand nail clippers than any acceptable selection of beer. On a day of destiny, I walked into Tops and my dreams came true. Stacked floor-to-ceiling in definitively wheelchair-unfriendly aisles with boxes of future drunken times teetering over your head, I found my personal heaven in a Tempe stripmall. While their beer selection only demands a quarter of the floorspace, the selection is unprecedented. And they will happily place orders for a special brew even they don't have in stock. I far prefer this intimate and casual setting than the Walmart-type liquor store chains around Phoenix. Once they noticed I was buying them out of a particular beer, the staff ordered more and offered to text me as soon as they get it in. Their beer bros know their stuff, and on numerous occasions have helped me find delicious brews I wouldn't have otherwise tried. Only shitty things about the place are the warm beers, and the slightly less warm beer in the fridges.
