  • It's a bit over-hyped. It is a Madison staple, so if you're a tourist in the market for a tourist destination, this isn't a bad place to go. If you're a local in search of good food, there's better places in Madison. Their grilled cheese is fantastic. They have perfectly done matchstick fries; they could use some seasoning besides the salt, but the sauce served with them is delicious. The cheese curds OK, you'll love them if you've never had cheese curds before. But if you know your deep fried cheese, you won't be impressed here- cheese is a bit stringy, and the batter quite bland. The brats are definitely over seasoned. If you have good meat, you shouldn't need this much salt. I'm sure they have good meat, so they are doing it a dis-service my smothering the taste. In summery, they over salt and under season otherwise. There will be a long wait. It is not a calm and laid back environment, at all. This place is bustling, loud, and they could definitely hang some heavy curtains to help with the acoustics. Location is great, right on the capitol.
