  • After renting from private owner Rikki Ricardi, whom I have NEVER once met in person, I dealt with his assistant Rita and her assistant Danielle for the entire rental history here at this complex. Me and my boyfriend of 6 years moved in in late December quite quickly due to some family conflicts that arose. Rita was incredible the entire time she was so helpful and really seemed like she cared about people and not just money. Well needless to say I stayed a year under that same mindset Rita and Danielle were both really good landlords, that is until it was time for my lease to be up and I wanted a better fitted place for my sister and I. So everything went fine, normal, and as expected with the moving out, I provided them with a 30 notice to vacate and made sure the entire home was in good condition and clean for my move out (which was easy seeing how I kept the apartment in AMAZING condition). So I got into my new apartment around 1 week before my lease was actually up and moved everything out of the tango bay unit to ensure cleaning was done before I left, I advised Rita's assistant Danielle that everything was out of the house except my bed. Shortly after (a few days) Danielle called me while I was at work, mind you I have told her and Rita on several occasions that I work 9-5 and can not take calls at those times. So Danielle texts me and not asking me but TELLING me that I needed to remove the couches and other furniture I dumped at the tango bay complex........ My couches and ALL my furniture are at my new apartment already mind you. Then Danielle proceeds to say that to HOA is putting a fine on them for the items in which I will be responsible for paying, when calling the HOA to sort out this mess they stated that they have ABSOLUTLEY no records of a dumping complaint or fine for that property and that the Trash Republic would handle that NOT the HOA, when I advised Danielle of this information directly from the HOA she stated that she can't explain this to me over text and that if I call her she will explain to me how it works. I JUST GOT ANY INFORMATION I COULD POSSIBLY GET FROM THE HOA ITSELF!!! Again when I told Danielle that I was very upset at the fact that first of all they did not ask if the items dumped were mine and second they LIED to me about the entire situation her and Rita both just brushed off the situation and acted like I was being difficult. So naturally when I tell them that this ploy to keep my deposit will not work they instantly go on the defense and try to make me feel as though I am over reacting. So a week and a half goes by and I get a phone call again DURING WORK! This time its Rita instead of Danielle, I could not answer the call and called her back that night after work. She did not answer. A day later I get this message from Rita: "Hi Alex I need to speak with you it's important and I need to speak with you soon. Please give me a call I left you a message and didn't hear from you" after me stating that I did call her back that same night and she did not answer so I advise Rita I will call her when I finish up at work for the day. When I call Rita she told me that the carpets in the apartment had stains underneath them (The carpet was horribly worn down and old before I even signed my lease over a year prior) she then proceeded to state that they tried to get the carpets cleaned 3 times and that there was pet urine stains in the carpet in quite a few places so they pulled the carpet up to see underneath, I want to know what kind of landlord or person for that matter tries on multiple occasions to take someones money for garbage reasons. They knew I had a pet (accidents happen) and I paid a $250 NON-refundable pet deposit for cleaning, they had no reason to pull up the carpets of that home they could have gotten the carpets industrially shampooed ( and we all know they never shampooed the carpets before pulling it up) and this "pet urine" stains would have came right out. Everyone knows that we as humans spill things and all sorts of other things, how can they said all the spots UNDER the carpet were from my dog when those carpets were old as hell before I even moved in! Then they proceed to tell me that its going to cost them $1000 dollars to fix (funny how that is the state limit for charges against a tenant) So when I asked Rita to explain to me exactly what they were asking from me and she would not answer the question straightforward so like any irritated person I told her to get to the point and tell me whats going on, when she wouldn't I simply ended the conversation. These people are absolute scammers, you can live there and take amazing care of the apartment, never have a complaint, never be late on rent, and they will still find a way to keep your money. I strongly suggest that you never rent from these crooks.
