  • I went to this Starbucks on the way home after shopping before Christmas. Don't bother stopping by if it's your birthday and getting your free SB drink. I paid for mine because the employee (1 of 2 at 7pm) scanned my app and said that I redeemed it already or there was an error with my card. I explained to her yes, I had not been able to access my account for a while because the website would accept my password after repeatedly trying to reset the password. The problem with the SB app is that yes you can lose your card for years and still use it as long as you have an account and download the app. To make a long story short. She didn't bother to check my ID and verify if it was my bday and just give it to me as a goodwill gesture. My card had over $75 (I had $25 and received another $50 credit when I bought the collectible $150 Swarovski card a few weeks earlier) on it at the time I used it to pay. I should have just walked out but she kept asking me if I still wanted it or not since I was frustrated that their stupid app was not working properly. It's not your stupid coffee, lady. It's the principle. Stupidly, I paid for it because I had the money available in my card and I didn't want her to have the satisfaction thinking I was trying to get a 2nd free coffee from her "poor" beloved Starbucks corp. YOUR company advertises and is publicized for people ordering really expensive custom orders on their birthdays. I ordered a simple frap, one of only 2 drinks I order from SB. At a minimum, I spend $3.5 a day on a 30oz ice coffee on school days. I paid for the drink, left and returned it to another store. It just didn't seem right. I did not touch the drink at all. My Starbucks, the one I usually go to on Charleston+Indigo was very apologetic about what happened. I showed them my app and my driver's license. Told them I wanted a refund for the principle of it. (Yes, I will spend time and gas on righting something that is not so.) They were very nice, apologized profusedly, offered me a full refund and insisted I could've drank it too. I told them it was not their fault, and that I appreciated their sincerity and efforts. The truth is, the other store left a bitter taste in my mouth and I wouldn't drink anything from them even if they gave me a truck load. It's almost a month since this happened and I said I would write a review about this place, and so here it is. This location is very small anyway. I have eaten at the Panera Bread in the same shopping area and although they have lousy coffee, at least their service is great. This dung hole can keep their overpriced overly sweet coffee to themselves. There were only 2 employees at the store at the time, I am guessing the lady who served me, in a black, polo, was probably the supervisor or had the supervisory role since the other guy was the one making the drinks. Truth be said, this was the 2nd time I have ever bother to try to redeem their birthday drink. I didn't even know that you had a month to redeem it, I thought it was only good on your birthday and so I always figured it was a hassle through the years (dumb bass me, for the amount of money I spent on them from me and buying for my significant others who like that ridiculous caramel mochiatto, I'd be swimming in buy 10/get 1 free coupons if they actually offered these). Poobah to you madam and you can keep your dam* birthday coffee to yourself.
