  • Unbelievably disappointed in my visit today. After a lot of begging and big smiles, I succumbed and brought my two 4-year-old grandsons to jump. I figured I could tolerate the music for an hour. As usual, we headed straight to the foam pit, where they usually spend most of their time. I always make sure that they wait their turn in line and that they don't jump until the person ahead of them is out of the pit. They jumped a couple of times, but there were too many kids there and the bigger kids kept jumping in front of them. They wanted to go to the trampolines anyway, so we headed to the toddler area, which no longer existed. The toddler area is now part of the main floor. This I actually think is an improvement, since my grandsons range in age from 2 to 13. The only issue was that there were several older kids jumping their way across the entire area, irrespective of the designated toddler area. My grandsons started to jump together on a square and I told them to split up. Of course, where one goes, the other follows. I was taking a quick video and was about to tell them again to split up when a child "official" walked toward us, from several blocks away, to admonish me. He wanted to make sure that my grandsons followed the rules. However, this child walked past several other children - in groups of two and three - jumping in the same square, but never said a word. He walked by other children jumping on the wall - a violation of the rules - but never said a word. He walked by teenagers in the toddler area and by kids doing flips and still no action. In the entire time that I stood there, frequently reminding my grandsons that they must jump alone on these giant squares, this child "official" never addressed any other groups of children jumping together or otherwise violating the rules. Even worse, when we returned to the foam pit, some obnoxious teenaged boys kept getting in front of my grandsons and would start jumping on the trampolines while they were still trying to climb out. When I said something they got even more obnoxious and became even more aggressive. Since the "official" had nothing to say, I walked onto the waiting area platform to stand beside my grandsons while they stood in line. One of the teens continued to mouth off when I told him to stay away from my two small boys and asked the little punk why he was bullying two toddlers. Only then did the "official" say a word. He approached, saying, "Mam! Mam!" Are you kidding me? He did ultimately tell the obnoxious teenagers to stay in their own lane, but seriously. It never should have gotten that far and would not have if he had done his job in the first place. If they don't want toddlers there, then don't allow them access. But, if they are allowed, then protect them and do a much better job enforcing the rules equally. The foam pit is always chaos, with nobody monitoring the teens who come and get in front of the little kids so that they can jump in unison or the ones that jump, climb out and jump again. No amount of begging or big smiles will get me to endure that dreadful music again.
