We stayed at comfort inn by the airport on my first ever trip to Montreal. I had booked our two night stay in advance using points. We arrived at the hotel late and to my great horror I saw all of the first floor rooms have a patio door that is accessible by street. This meant that anyone could just walk into your glass door and the neighborhood did not look like anything to write home about. We went to check in and of course they had assigned us a first floor room. I said over my dead body am I staying in one. Like i said we had used points so the young lady at check in was being very stubborn and said they have no other rooms available. We asked if we can go stay at another comfort inn and she called her manager who was very rude. She refused to do anything or to even speak to us. The young lady checking us in finally agreed to let us stay in a room upstairs which totally sucked because we had booked a double room and were stuck sharing a tiny queen bed.
This hotel had plenty of problems and they're lucky they're even getting two stars. There is no elevator so we had to drag all of our luggage upstairs by hand. No help was offered. The lobby is tiny and unwelcoming. The next joke: breakfast. It's in a small room the size of a closet. They offered cereal, yogurt, muffins and several other low quality items. No make your own waffles. No English muffins They did have packaged waffles but we asked the breakfast lady where they are and she said they're out. We had gotten there one hour after breakfast started so that was no excuse. It was honestly the worst hotel breakfast I've had. The next day we had to ask for waffles again and the lady brought some out from the back but was stingy with putting them out. They claim they are pet friendly but they charge you $25 per dog. And that's non-refundable. The area is boring and has hardly any chain stores or restaurants or even grocery stores.
This was a terrible place for first time Montreal visitors to stay. It's a good thing the city is so charming or I would've been scared off of Montreal for good.
