  • My first purchase from Classic Firearms was a Makarov P-64. During the order process, I was amazed to find that my trusty, small-shop FFL was already on their list. The order process was easy & uneventful. What delivered was a smart little Polish-made pistol in great condition. In addition to an extra magazine, I had also paid the extra $20 for the "hand select best of ten cosmetically." Though manufactured in 1975, I found a fully functional little gem with no noticeable dings, nicks or scratches. And all part numbers matched! After paying my FFL $25, I took my first Makarov directly to my range, where I also picked up my first box of 9x18. No sh_t, I placed my 1st shot dead center in a 1.5" bull's eye at 15 yards. No question about it, the fixed barrel of the P-64 ensures its accuracy, provided you do your part! The P-64 has a short, crisp, single-action trigger pull. But just I as had read about it, I needed both trigger fingers to operate it in double-action. Some estimate it requires a 26-lb pull. (Not to worry: One of the reasons I bought it was for trigger finger strengthening.) Except that I don't care much for the tiny sights, it would make a fine concealed carry piece. However, I intend to keep it "stock" & savor the Cold War experience on the firing range. So, now that I picked up a thousand rounds of Polish-made 9x18 at a great price, I'm eyeing one of Classic Firearms CZ-82's, which my FFL believes is one of the finest pistol of its time...
